KANEKA CORPORATION

KANEKA CORPORATION

Kaneka Corporation (Osaka and Tokyo. Japan) is a global chemical company. Our technologies create products and services that make a worldwide contribution in harmony with the environment. We especially focus on the life science field, such as medical devices, fine chemicals and functional foods. In the field of medical devices, Kaneka has been pursuing the development of a unique system to be used particularly in plasmapheresis, targeting refractory diseases that are hard to cure by conventional therapies. High cholesterol levels in plasma are known to be one of the major risk factors causing coronary heart diseases such as myocardial infarction. Liposorber is a highly selective LDL-adsorption column developed by Kaneka, capable of lowering plasma cholesterol to the desired level. Kaneka is the first company in the world to have started manufacturing this type of adsorption column on an industrial scale. Since its introduction into the market in 1986. our LDL-apheresis system, which combines Liposorber and Sulflux (a membrane-type plasma separator). has been enjoying an excellent reputation in the medical community. Following these achieve-ments, Kaneka commercialized Selesorb. a selective adsorption column for the treatment of systematic lupus erythematosus, and Lixelle for the treatment of dialysis-related amyloidosis.
